SHOWERED WITH PAINTINGS, AND MY SHORT STORY COLLECTION

My alarm went off at 3:30 this morning. I switched it off and just laid there (it takes me 30 minutes to climb out of bed). I stared at the ceiling, thanked God for letting me see 29 years and decided to take an hour to get out of bed (my birthday present to myself).

I'm not sure what I feel today. I'm thankful, yes, but I'm not feeling very sentimental. May be because it's early and I went to bed later than usual. As the day goes on, just like the day starts to warm, my feelings will move in on me.

My kids showered me with lots of paintings. They kept coming one after the other, even bringing pictures from the year before and they're like "Mom, you just got so much stuff!" Like I've been given a chest full of money and I should be good on the gifts for the rest of the day, lest I be spoiled. They make me laugh. That's really the gift.

I'm not hard to satisfy though. If I didn't have other things to do today, my birthday wish would be to get Chinese food and go see Deadpool again (while eating my Chinese. Yup, I like to hide better food in my purse to take into the theatre).

It's been a busy week. I've been editing and preparing for the release of a short story collection. The collection includes He's You, The Gift, Two of the Same Kind, Whirring, What About Her, Prankster in the Box, and a new flash piece called Safe Word. It'll be available everywhere March 20th, but I'll be running a giveaway of signed paperbacks soon so watch for that.

I hadn't had much time to work on the new book this week, so I'm gonna have to take a rain check on showing you something. Maybe next week.

Enjoy your weekend!
