BODY STRIKE (A POST OF SOME RANDOMNESS)

I needed a blog post for this week, so I sat in the car (waiting for my kids to get out of school) and combed thru my brain for ideas. I had lots of topics in a notebook, but going over them... there were none that excited me. There were some good ones, just none that would send my pen flying across the page.

I have things on my mind: my writing career, the first sex scene from American Gods (which was brilliant!)  and my children growing up. Random, I know.

Those are subjects that I could go into great lengths about. But I wasn't feeling it.

Maybe it was because I was sitting in the car and was thirsty. (Body on strike?)

Maybe it was the tiny nag in the back of my mind saying "No one reads the posts. You're wasting your time. Make videos instead!" I'm not exactly sure how accurate that was. I know I get plenty of visitors. Whether or not they're actually reading is something I don't know.

Maybe my brain didn't want to write non-fiction words at that moment. Maybe it only wanted to think of fiction thoughts, because it was associating most everything I saw around me with my current work in progress.

Body on strike is what I'd bet on, though. Sometimes, when my body is out-of-order (the most common cause being a migraine) I think of my body as millions of tiny, angry picketers. Upset because of not enough sleep, or hunger/thirst, etc.

And now that I've written the word hunger, I am starving 😊
